Summer weather in Bay Area

The San Francisco area tends to be hottest in Sept/Oct. Why is that,
since most places in the US are hottest in June - August? Is it just
the wind coming from the SW?

I just moved to LA and discovered the term June gloom - apparently
June tends to be overcast here. The past few days the high here was
99!

I also lived in the midwest once and June-Aug also was the hottest and
also had thunderstorms in the night.

I have been there about few months ago with my whole family during my holidays. We stay there for 15 days and had lots of fun there. In my point of views summer season is a best time to visit this place. The lorge number of visitors go there every years and sent their hoidays. I would love to go there agian and agian. So can you share your experiece if you ever visit there.
