  • Exchanging Foreign Currency

I'm anticipating a trip to Europe and so will need euros. I'm wondering if anyone recommends a certain national bank to get a good rate...? Or do you think specialized exchange places are best?

It seems like airports and hotels once you get to your destination aren't the smartest option. What do you think?

The same goes with FOREX. The Foreign exchange goods (or merchandise) are the currencies of various countries. You buy Euro, paying with US dollars, or you sell Japanese Yens for Canadian dollars.

Most banks keep a reserve of U.S. currency on hand, so you can purchase currency for your trip from your own bank. Depending on the size of the currency purchase, the bank may require you to fill out paperwork stating the reason for your withdrawal and your travel plans. Banks tend to have higher exchange rates than some currency exchange (Bureau de Change) business, since they do not have to be competitive. Before you conduct your transaction at the bank, check the currency change rates for that day via a site such as Oanda (see Additional Resources) so you can compare the rate the bank is quoting and determine if it’s a good offer. There is a fee involved in withdrawing foreign currency from your bank.

You could try an international airport. They often have exchange desks there. You will have to pay a transaction fee. They won't take coins, only paper.

True. Arrivals aren't the smartest option. Banks too often have to many formalities and don't even get a very good rate. Specialized foreign currency exchange services are pretty good, provided you research one a trusted one. Travelex India is a leading foreign exchange specialist. They are not only trusted but also have great currency exchange rates if you reserve your currency online. Take a look. Link in signature.
