He probably meant Russian Socialism. Socialism is great as idea but unfortunately wrong people abused it as idea and today majority of people think negative about socialism.

Russia doesn't follow Socialism nowadays.. It has not be so since the fall of Communism during the 1990's.. They now follow a government closer to the concept of Democracy..

I think it is good for the country as well as the whole world because way back then there have been many secret abuses by the government against their own people.. I like the concept of Socialism because it means an equal oppurtunity for all, equal sharing of resources.. what I did not like was the way their leaders use socialism to advance their personal interest, hurting many people in the process..

              socialism and democracy

I've been living in Ukraine all my life and can compare socialism that we had before 1990 and "democracy" of'nowadays. If it is real democracy, socialism of the USSR was much better: we had free healthcare,
free secondary and high education, people got accomodation from the government free of charge, no unemplyment, no homeless people. With democracy we have: about 5% of extremely reach people, 30% of
extremely poor people who live in misery, the rest is also poor, but is able find something to eat and to wear,
big rate of unemployment, abuse of labour law, many homeless and absence of social defence at all.
It's strange, but the majority of Ukrainians are still friendly.

i guess there are other reasons behind being nice to people from abroad. Russians tend to take advantage of people who do not speak the language and do not know how to get around the city, even country. In Russia, there is no such thing as free service - one has to pay for everything! For instance, if one wishes to purchase an online train ticket, he or she has to know that there will be a fee for such luxury. Moreover, one will pay extra for delivering the tickets, extra for buying them online and extra for not standing in line. You have to tip the delivery guy, of course too.
