Default Kanchanaburi thailand - 08-22-2007, 05:08 PM

Anybody been there ?

I know the movie "the bridge over river kwai" is set at Kanchanaburi thailand.

I think it's a nice trip if you're ever in thailand to go see it.

Kanchanaburi is a great place:

They have at least 3 thinks you must see

1. The Bridge on the River Kwai

2. The Erawan waterfall (Is truly one of the most beautiful falls in Southeast Asia. It is surrounded by dense jungle and offers all to nature lovers).

3. The Tiger Temple (Animal rescue center looked after by buddhist monks)

So, if Kanchanaburi is your next travel destination i really recommend it !!

I have heard about that waterfall close to kanchanaburi, it's very nasty to climb if it's a really hot day.

Remember to take a couple of waterbottles with you for the trip.

The Bridge on the River Kwai is Internationally famous, thanks the several motion pictures and books, the black iron bridge was brought from Java by the Japanese supervision by Allied prisoner-of-war labour as part of the Death Railway linking Thailand with Burma. Still in use today, the bridge was the target of frequent Allied bombing raids during World War II and was rebuild after war ended. The curved spans of the bridge are the original sections. A daily train is still following the historical route from Kanchanaburi to Nam Tok Railway Station.
