Tourism in Italy dropped 25% in 2008 from the previous year and forecasts are even worse for 2009.

Yes, the global economic downturn really hitting Italy hard, tourism is the country most important industry, representing 10 percent of Italy's GDP.

Yes a very good country to do just that and there are many that do it. Only thing i'd suggest is to check into campsites if you can rather than parking in the street. (autogrill)

Have heard many stories of people being robbed by people that spray gas through the camper window which puts you into a sleep and then they take everything they can.

During the summer months such as today its 38'c so it's impossible to sleep with the windows closed.

But donìt let that put you off. i'm just making you aware of the fact!

So much to see in Italy and this is a great way to travel around.

Well its not really shocking considering that the world is currently experiencing global recession. I think almost all countries are experiencing the same thing.

Well, I don’t think so that tourism graph is down in Italy even its one of the major tourist attraction around the world especially in Venice, Rome, Florence and Milan etc. These all are the best tourist attraction so far

Italy are known not only for their food but also attractive tourist places.

With the prevailing economic conditions the tourism in Italy has rose a nearly 2 % in the past two years. The potential of tourism industry in Italy cannot be doubted and hope in coming season the industry again achieves prosperity.
