the first and the foremost thing you have to do is to contact your primary care physician and he will take care of all the vaccinations required and your physician could also provide you literature in this regard. have a safe trip.
i think you should bring also insect-repellant lotions to ward away mosquitoes, and prevent dengue fever and sleeping sickness.. these insects can be found in dry climates..
where are you going? If you are going to coastal region you'll need lotsa sun screen, light clothing etc
If you are going to the mara region, safari pants are all you need.A good tour guide (read local citizen)is a great accessory especially when shopping on open air marktets for curios etc.
If you are visiting the national parks a camera should do it.Keep all ur valuable gadgets within eye range..
Sherlock mentioned gifts- pens are very popular. The simple clicky ballpoint pens not Mont Blanc's!
Leave anything valuable such as jewellery and watches behind. Get a cheap Casio as it will take a lot of worry out and will not target you for mugging/theft which is a problem but mostly for the tourist who flashed the bling for no good reason!
Remember to take plenty of batteries for your camera or a back up battery if your camera takes a special unit. Depending on where you stay you may not be able to get to a mains adapter.
Kenya safaris are an awesome experience and don't be afraid to step out of the regular tourist routes and meet some real Kenyan's- they are very nice people who have a lot of pride in their country. Enjoy!
Always bring with you your camera so you can capture and store memories of your vacation.
