    Default Communicating in Beijing

So hopefully before the end of the summer I will be taking a trip to Beijing and I want to stay in touch with my friends and family. I was thinking about using a temporary service plan from rangeRoamer - Short-term cell phone service for international travelers.. I think they have great service and plans but I still want to keep my options open. What other ways can I communicate internationally. I want to try and avoid skype

Personally, I would still recommend Skype. It's free and incredibly easy to use.
