Default XixuaXiparina Reserve, Brazilian Amazon

XixuaXiparina Reserve, Brazilian Amazon
*
*It is possible to visit the reserve to see the activities of the Amazon Association first hand.
*A trip to the Xixuau Reserve is a unique opportunity to visit an uncontaminated and largely still unknown region. Small groups of from 6 to 15 people can get to the reserve after a trip of 30 hours. The visitors stay in Malocas, indian style lodges of wood and straw. The days are dedicated to*outings in canoe both at day and night, walks in the forest and along the river banks, birdwatching and fishing. Having never been altered by human activity the area is very rich in flora and fauna and hosts many species in danger of extinction. The sloth, giant otter, river dolphins, manatee, jaguar, black caiman, harpy eagle, spider monkeys, anteaters, armadillos, pirarucu fish, macaws and toucans and only some of the species that can be admired in the reserve. Visits are organized to the community to get a look at local culture and reality. Handicrafts made by the local women can be purchased.
