in my opinion it's better to use a local company than a broker, because in the first case, you what to expect (company profile etc) than waiting an anonymous company hidden behind a big broker. Plus you can never know what is included in the rate.

Default brokers vs rental companies

In my opinion brokers are really better option because they can offer wider fleet and better service. As most of the brokers have more that 1 partner in each location they can guarantee you will get your car. I have to travel abroad a lot due to my job duties and I love driving by myself therefore I always book with brokers. It has happened I have beem in the same place twice and get my car from different car rental companies. It's good chaice to compare the services they provide, so next time when i go to the same place I ask brokerage company to give me a car from the company I liked more if possible. Last time whe I was in Portugal and took a car hire Faro Airport the broker gave me a car from the company I wanted. In high season it could be much harder since Faro ir oneof the most popular tourism destinations during summer season.
